The outspoken trainer insisted there's a difference between the European champions and the Catalans, and highlighted that his club have almost as many players in the national side

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has rebuffed suggestions that Spain are very similar to Barcelona, pointing out that the reigning Liga champions have five representatives in Vicente del Bosque's Euro 2012 squad.

The European and world champions have been compared to the Catalans following their possession and passing style of football, but the Portuguese trainer stressed that the Santiago Bernabeu side play an equally important role in Spain's success, while taking a dig at the Blaugrana at the same time.

"You speak about Spain and Barcelona but the national team of Spain have five Real Madrid players too," Mourinho stated to reporters.

"I don't know why you would mix that up because those are completely separate things.

"Barcelona was the champion of Spain. And I repeat was the champion of Spain, and nothing more."

Spain sit top of the table in Group C following their 4-0 win over Republic of Ireland on Thursday, and only need a draw in their last match versus Croatia to qualify for the quarter-finals of Euro 2012.
