England fans fear Spain the most at Euro 2012

A survey by Sharp Fan Labs reveals that Three Lions supporters want to avoid meeting the reigning world champions if at all possible, and think Croatia are a dark horse
England fans are amongst some of the most ardent and committed in the world but even they will admit there is one team they don't want to meet at Euro 2012: Spain.

The reigning world and European champions have an embarrassment of riches at their disposal (and Fernando Torres) and will be the team that everyone wants to avoid.

But if the Three Lions are to progress beyond their usual quarter-final place at major tournaments they will need to beat Vicente del Bosque's side, possibly at that very round.

And yet, just a month ago, Fabio Capello's men beat Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and Co. in a friendly at Wembley.

Data collected by Sharp Fan Labs showed that the side England fans are most worried about facing in Poland & Ukraine is Spain, with 31 per cent of people naming the holders as their most feared side. The old enemy Germany came in a close second at 25%.

England fans that have done so already have also admitted that, should the Three Lions crash out of the tournament next summer, they will support Spain.

And 14% of those polled have an eye on Croatia, who they believe to be the surprise team for the tournament.

According to results of all those that took part, Dutch fans are the most committed, edging out Ukraine and Croatia supporters as the most devoted while, unsurprisingly, Spanish followers are the most confident going into next summer's tournament.
