‘There were no racial chants during the England game,' says Bulgarian FA president Borislav Mihaylov

His comments come after Uefa announced the BFA would face charges for their fans’ behaviour and contradict the public apology from then manager Lothar Matthaus after the match
The Bulgarian FA (BFA) have rejected allegations of racist chanting by their fans after being charged by Uefa for discriminatory behaviour.The charges come a month after the Euro 2012 qualifier against England where players such as Ashley Young, Ashley Cole and Theo Walcott were subjected to monkey chants from the crowd.
After the match, manager Lothar Matthaus apologised for the incident, saying: "I cannot say too much about this as I wasn't really aware of it, but, in my capacity as the manager, it's pitiful for things like this to happen."
Since then Matthaus has lost his job and the president of the BFA, Borislav Mihaylov, has issued a public denial of all charges laid against his country, before adding that he would look to push back the October 13 date when Bulgaria’s case will be heard by the Uefa Control and Disciplinary Body.
"There were no racial chants during the game and the match delegate said the same and there's nothing like this in his report," Mihaylov told reporters on Thursday.
"Yes, we received a letter from Uefa yesterday but we'll probably ask for postponement of the case because we want to have more time to prepare a more detailed and clear answer.
"I'm not worried. The English federation has complained to Uefa but they already did it five times. They probably believe they're blessed."
