Cassano made the headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this week when he insulted a journalist, but he later apologised and was forgiven by Prandelli.
"The situation was resolved quickly. It made me think that Cassano immediately decided to offer his apologies. To me, that was enough. He meant what he said," Prandelli was quoted as saying by Il Corriere dello Sport.
"Of course, we could have done without this incident. It was quite serious, but Antonio has apologised in front of everyone. He will play from the start with Giuseppe Rossi and Riccardo Montolivo behind them."
Italy have already qualified for next year's tournament with 22 points from eight games. Serbia are second in Group C with 14 points.
