thumbnail Hello,

The man who helped the Germans to glory in the 1996 European Championship has said that they are determined to add another trophy to their collection next year

Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff has revealed that his players are full of ambition ahead of Euro 2012 as they aim to win the the European title for the first time since their victory over Czech Republic in 1996.

The DFB team beat Austria 6-2 last Friday to book their ticket for next year's tournament in Poland and Ukraine and Bierhoff is confident that they're on the path to success.

"We are on the right track, although we still have some work to do. The recent comments from our players and staff show what our ambition is. We aim to win Euro 2012," Bierhoff told

"Obviously we face stiff competition from teams such as the Netherlands, Spain and a few other nations. However, the players give me a very strong feeling that they are determined to win it this time rather than finish second or third again.

"The team is still developing and it's a great thing that new players continue to rise to prominence."

Germany are currently preparing for their international friendly against Poland on Tuesday evening in Gdansk.
