Everton's Leighton Baines out of England’s Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales through injury

The 26-year-old has returned to his club for further treatment after picking up a hamstring injury in training with the Three Lions on Sunday, with no replacement to be called up
Everton defender Leighton Baines has pulled out of the England squad to face Wales in Tuesday’s Euro 2012 qualifier after picking up an injury in training.

The 26-year-old has returned to his club for treatment after sustaining an injury to his hamstring and, although the problem is not thought to be serious, it is not yet known when he will be fit to return to action.

No replacement will be called up to cover for Baines’ absence, as manager Fabio Capello feels he has enough defensive options to back up first choice left-back Ashley Cole.

England can all but book their place in next summer’s European Championship finals with victory over Wales at Wembley on Tuesday.
