There are serious doubts over the ability of Germany playmaker Mesut Oezil to play in Tuesday evening’s encounter against Kazakhstan in Astana, after the Real Madrid man picked up a problem on Friday evening.
Having played an important role for die Mannschaft during their 3-0 success over Turkey at home, scoring the second goal, Oezil was forced to be withdrawn after 90 minutes for Marko Marin after acquiring an ankle injury.
The AFP news agency reports that the former Werder Bremen and Schalke star is presently unsure of the severity of his problem, but a scan that he will undergo on Saturday should give a better idea of his potential to play in midweek.
Oezil has enjoyed a positive start to his career in Spain after moving from his homeland in the summer. Even a niggling injury will be considered a disruption to his settling in process in Madrid, and it represents a greater problem for Germany boss Joachim Loew, who has come to rely on the 21-year-old as his chief offensive architect.
