England manager Fabio Capello has reunited ex-Everton team-mates Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland.

Lescott, 28, has beaten off competition from Gary Cahill and Matthew Upson to replace injured centre-back Michael Dawson. The duo spent two years together on Merseyside, and it is believed this was key in persuading the Italian to select the £24 million Manchester City star.

As expected, Wayne Rooney has brushed off accusations about his private life to start up front with Jermain Defoe. In midfield, Capello has stuck with the players that secured a 4-0 victory against Bulgaria on Friday night.

England: Hart; G Johnson, Jagielka, Lescott, A Cole; Walcott, Gerrard, Barry, Milner; Rooney, Defoe.
