Slovakia struggled at times in Friday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia, but they eventually recorded a 1-0 win courtesy of a late Filip Holsoko strike. Russia are their next opponents on Tuesday evening and head coach Vladimir Weiss has warned his men to watch out for striker Pavel Pogrebnyak, who helped the Russians to a 2-0 win against Andorra.

"The game against Macedonia was very difficult. They focused on defending and did it well. They played very well [and were] organised and that is why Slovakia had only a few chances," said Weiss to Sport Express.

"But nevertheless we managed to score at last. That goal was evidence of the spirit of our team. Such nervous endings are not entirely bad. On the one hand I got very tired. On the other hand we are in a good psychological state for the match in Moscow.

"It is true that Russia's opponents were weaker and we spent more energy. However, you should not forget that there are no easy matches in the European Championship qualification round. And Russia were forced to put some serious effort in to win their match.

"My prediction about Pavel Pogrebnyak becoming the leader in attack for Russia turned out to be true. I said it because Pavel is one of the favourites of head coach Dick Advocaat since the time he worked in Zenit. Additionally, he is a really good player."

"I am sure that the Stuttgart striker will play from the start against us. We play for victory in every match but it would be nice to return with a draw from Cherkizovo on Tuesday."
