Russia Coach Dick Advocaat Wary Of Slovakia Threat
Dutchman has made it clear that Slovakia should not be underestimated.
By Stefan Coerts
Russia started their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign with a solid 2-0 away win against Andorra on Friday, but head coach Dick Advocaat has made it clear that the Russians will have to improve if they are to beat Slovakia too on Tuesday.
"We made a good start with a victory against Andorra, but we will need to play better against Slovakia. I think we are definitely capable of qualifying," was Advocaat quoted as saying on the press conference.
"The match against Slovakia will prove to be a difficult tie though. We have all seen during Friday's matches that there are no longer any certainties in football and that every game can be difficult.
"Slovakia are on another level as Andorra. They played very well at the 2010 World Cup and even made it to the first knock-out round there. We will have to be at our best to record a good result.
"Playing good football is one of our objectives, but winning is the most important task. This is no time to experiment with young players and new playing styles."
