It was Cassano who drew Italy level after they fell behind to Estonia in the first half. And then he popped up again to supply the assist for Bonucci's winner.
"I made a movement to block their captain and Cassano was good to react and flick the ball to me and so I was there to score it," Bonucci told Rai after the match.
"It's always nice to score, but more importantly to win the game.
"I was there ready to tap in and I am happy. Cassano is excellent and you always expect him to produce a surprise.
"We suffered a little in the first half and they put us in difficulty, but in the second half we were able to close them down and bring home the result," he concluded.
