Germany lock horns with Belgium on Friday in the first match of their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign and the Nationalelf are determined to start with a win. Highly rated defender Philipp Lahm has pointed out that it won't be an easy qualifying campaign for the Germans though.

"We have to be fully focused when we enter the pitch for the match against Belgium. Our qualifying group is not an easy group, but we're determined to pick up the full three points in our opener," said Lahm in a press conference.

"It could be a disadvantage to face Belgium this soon. We don't have a lot of match rhythm yet because our season only just started. You can't expect us to play like we did against England and Argentina at the World Cup.

"I have to accept the coach's decision to name Michael Ballack as the team's permanent captain. However, I'm looking forward to wearing the armband against Belgium in Michael's absence. There are always several players on the pitch who have to take responsibility."

Germany also face Turkey, Austria, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in the group phase of the Euro 2012 qualification campaign.
