Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has linked up with his Spain colleagues ahead of their Euro 2012 qualifying clash with Liechtenstein, and warned that the minnows must not be underestimated.

La Furia Roja begin the defence of their title with a trip to face the tiny nation, before a friendly versus Argentina in Buenos Aires and, speaking to journalists at the Spanish camp at Las Rozas, Busquets said of the fixtures: “I am very excited for the friendly versus Argentina, but first we have the task of Liechtenstein, which is very important.

“We have to get three points in order to start well in Euro qualifying. They may be modest opponents but they should not be trusted. We have to find the same level of motivation, as if we were playing one of the major teams. We hope that both of these matches are resolved well.”

Busquets also joked about the prospect of facing club colleagues Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano, but added that he enjoys locking horns with club team-mates on the international stage.

He remarked: “There are always the usual jokes, everyone will look after their own interests, but we are all friends, and it is always good to meet with colleagues.”
