GAUTENG
The province provides two host cities in Johannesburg and Pretoria, as well as a myriad of accommodation and training ground options. 19 of the teams taking part in the World Cup chose to be based in the province, with training at high altitude expected to benefit these sides.
Netherlands – Hilton Sandton Hotel
The much favoured Dutch team will set anchor at one of Johannesburg’s finest hotels, with the world renowned Hilton name needing no introduction. The Hilton Sandton Hotel is situated in landscaped gardens, close to the Village Walk shopping centre in Sandton, in the heart of northern Johannesburg's business district. The Hilton Sandton Hotel has 329 rooms located on six floors. The Tradewinds restaurant offers a variety of international cuisine to keep the players and staff well fed and happy during their stay, while a private Health Club with sauna and personal trainers provides additional training for the team in the comfort of their hotel if they wish.

Brazil – The Fairway
Among the favourites to lift the Cup in Soccer City on July 11 are Brazil, and as a result of their expectations they will also be based in the city hosting the final of the World Cup, Johannesburg. Brazil have chosen a base camp which is near to the stadium, called the Fairway Hotel in Randburg. The Fairway Hotel is a five-star hotel with golf club facility on the premises, and the Brazilians will be in the lap of luxury while staying at the venue, which has completed a renovation to further improve the stay for the South Americans. Distance is the main reason for Brazil’s choice, as two out of three group stage matches for the Selecao will be held in Johannesburg, against North Korea in Ellis Park on June 15, and Ivory Coast in Soccer City on June 20.

Mexico – Thaba Ya Batswana
Mexico have decided to stay on the outskirts of Johannesburg in this lodge, famous for fine service and relaxing surroundings. The lodge is situated in the Klipriversberg Nature Reserve area and has an abundance of indigenous trees, plants, birds and wildlife. The Tswana name means “Mountain of the Tswana People”, and Mexico will be able to enjoy food prepared by international chefs at the Kraal Kombuis restaurant and Olive Tree Coffee Shop on site. A day spa is also available at the lodge, as well as gym facilities and a 100-seater church within the lodge premises.

Honduras – The Indaba Hotel
Honduras have made the decision to stay at the Indaba Hotel in Fourways, Johannesburg, not far from Sandton. The award-winning hotel will offer the players a relaxing and spacious haven during the tournament, with an outdoor rim-flow heated swimming pool, two floodlit tennis courts, a 1.6km demarcated jogging track and Tranquil Therapy Beauty and Relaxation Centre adding to the fine array of eating options available onsite and the varied accommodation and conference facilities. The hotel is not far from three of the major World Cup stadiums.

Korea DPR – Protea Hotel Midrand
The Asian minnows may have been placed in the group of death for the World Cup, but their stay in South Africa will at least be a comfortable and pleasant one, with the reputation of Africa’s largest hotel group, Protea Hotels providing assurances that the team will be well looked after in the Gauteng location. The 4–Star Protea Hotel Midrand is situated in a beautifully landscaped garden setting, halfway between the dynamic, bustling cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria, therefore placing the Koreans close to the three World Cup stadiums in Gauteng.

Serbia - Sunnyside Park Hotel
The European surprise package will hope to make some waves in the tournament, and they have chosen a base camp in Johannesburg, which is located conveniently in Parktown from which easy access is provided to the city centre of Johannesburg, the shopping districts of Rosebank and Sandton, as well as the Johannesburg International Airport and nearby host city Pretoria. Three stadiums are within easy access, with Ellis Park/Coca Cola Stadium very near to the hotel. The 4-Star service and facilities at the Sunnyside Park Hotel include the Milner’s Restaurant, the Penny and Pound Irish Pub, a spacious fitness centre, a curio shop, a business centre and outdoor swimming pool.

Australia - Kloofzicht Lodge
The Aussies have always shared a sense of sporting respect and rivalry with South Africa, often coming up against each other in displays of fantastic rugby and cricket, but this year the Australians will be welcomed to South Africa for football. The side from down under have chosen to be based at a 5-Star lodge in Muldersdrift, just outside of Johannesburg. Kloofzicht Lodge a lavish, yet simultaneously earthy haven situated in the archeologically- rich “Cradle of Humankind’. A comfortable 30 minutes drive from both Sandton and Pretoria, the stadiums are not far out of reach, but the atmosphere around the camp will be relaxed and devoid of the city’s distractions.

Italy – Leriba Lodge
The defending world champions will be based between Johannesburg and Pretoria during the World Cup in South Africa, close to their previous accommodation used during the Confederations Cup. Close to the two Johannesburg stadiums as well as Loftus in Pretoria, the location is well placed to allow the Azzurri a relaxed and focused World Cup run. Leriba, the African word from the Sotho language meaning "place on the river bank", will provide the players with a typically African wilderness atmosphere, while allowing them the fine dining and typical five star services expected from the hotel. The state of the art wellness centre offers a luxurious taste of wild Africa, combined with the sophisticated pampering of a health spa. Coach Marcello Lippi may have chosen this location to keep his players from becoming distracted in the city, while providing easy access to training facilities and stadiums.

Argentina – High Performance Centre
The Argentinians will be based at the state of the art High Performance Centre in Pretoria, and the hotel will therefore be on the premises of their training ground. The HPC is southern Africa’s first elite one-stop sports complex which boasts training facilities, medical services and accommodation and each year world renowned athletes, local and overseas clubs and national teams use the HPC as their base camps in preparations for international events. At the request of the Albiceleste, the centre is spending R2 million to upgrade fencing, hire more guards and take other steps to improve security for the Argentina team. The facility, which includes a four-star hotel as well as sports fields and clinics, is also installing plasma television sets and whirlpool baths at the request of Diego Maradona’s charges.

Slovakia – The Villas Luxury Suite Hotel
The European nation will be based in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa and the venue for a number of this year’s World Cup matches. The graciousness, style and flair of Villa Hotel is historically reminiscent of a bygone era, combined with modern day convenience. United States – Irene Country Lodge
The Italians stayed in this lodge during the Confederations Cup, but the Americans secured their stay at the Centurion venue for the World Cup, placed between Johannesburg and Pretoria in great proximity to the three Gauteng stadiums to be used for the event. The 4-Star rated hotel provides tranquil scenery and fine dining services which will keep the USA content during their stay in the lodge. Activities in the area include tennis, squash and a gym. A number of shopping centres line in the area, including Southdowns, Irene Village Mall and Centurion Mall. The natural surroundings will provide a relaxing distraction from the pressures of the tournament.

Ivory Coast - Riverside Hotel & Conference Centre
One of Africa’s hopefuls for the tournament will be the star-studded Elephants from Ivory Coast, and they will be based at the Riverside Hotel & Conference Centre forty minutes outside of Johannesburg. Away from the distractions of the big city, but close enough to reach the stadiums in Johannesburg and Pretoria by short bus ride, the team will be staying in luxury at the hotel, where the personnel are committed to providing guests with great service and comfort, including genuine and authentic cuisine in a relaxed and inviting setting.

Switzerland – The Emerald Resort & Casino
The Swiss have chosen to reside in luxury during the World Cup, and the Emerald Resort will provide them with a balance of relaxation and comfort, while also allowing them a distraction from the pressures of such a high profile competition. The resort is placed on the shores of the Vaal River in Gauteng, less than an hour from OR Tambo International Airport. Germany - Velmore Hotel
The Germans are always amongst the favourites to have a good tournament at World Cups, and this year will be no different. They have chosen to stay at the Velmore Hotel Banquet and Conference Estate, which is located on the banks of the Hennops River, only 15km from Pretoria and Centurion, thereby providing easy access to three of the 10 stadiums to be used for the 2010 World Cup. With its French Provence architecture, open facilities and luxurious accommodation at the plush hotel, the German national team will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in a secure area, allowing them to focus on the task at hand. Ghana - Roode Vallei Country Lodge
The Black Stars of Ghana will be based at Roode Vallei Country Lodge, where they will plan their onslaught on Africa’s first World Cup. The peaceful conference and wedding venue is located north of Pretoria on the banks of the Pienaar’s River in the Highveld. New Zealand - Serengeti Estate
Usually welcomed to South Africa for rugby rather than football, the All Whites will be based at the Serengeti Estate in Gauteng. The Serengeti Golf & Wildlife Estate is a new establishment in Gauteng, completely self-contained and secure, with everything inside its perimeter that discerning visitors desire. Slovenia - Hyde Park Southern Sun
Slovenia have chosen the Hyde Park Southern Sun as their team hotel for the duration of the World Cup tournament, and they will be pleased to be situated close to the stadiums in Johannesburg, as well as the Loftus stadium in Pretoria. The newest of the hotels in use for the event, the venue is adjacent to the Hyde Park Shopping complex, aimed at high-end shoppers, and visible from the busy William Nicol Drive/Jan Smuts Avenue intersection. Slovenia will be close to the buzz of the city and the people of Johannesburg, and perhaps this will be motivation for them as the fans will be able to get closer to the team.

South Africa - Southern Sun Grayston
The hosts will be based in the heart of the financial district in Sandton, Johannesburg, where fans will likely flock to the hotel in the hope of capturing autographs and a word or two from their heroes. The hotel is within walking distance of the Sandton City shopping complex, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the Sandton Convention Centre, and is situated just 20 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport, meaning that it is also ideally placed within close proximity to the three stadiums of Soccer City, Ellis Park and Loftus Stadium. MPUMALANGA
Chile - Ingwenyama Conference Centre
The only team to be based in the peaceful surroundings of the Mpumalanga province, Chile will be staying at the Ingwenyama Conference Centre & Sports Resort. The Resort is situated on the outskirts of White River, which is in the heart of the beautiful Lowveld. The Lowveld region is three hours from Johannesburg and 30 minutes from the Kruger National Park. The Nelspruit Stadium is closest to the venue, with most of the other 2010 stadiums requiring longer travel times. Exhilarating adventure sports, paintball, indoor cricket and football and other sport fields are all part of the resort and will be available to the Chilean players.

NORTH WEST
The North West province will accommodate three of the World Cup teams during the month long event, with South Korea, England and Spain choosing to stay in the sunny province.
South Korea – Hunters Rest Hotel
The Asian outfit will be hosted in a sub-tropical paradise beautifully situated in the foothills of the Magaliesberg just outside Rustenburg. This 6000-hectare resort boasts many splendid facilities that will help to make it a memorable stay for the Koreans. England – Bafokeng Sports Campus
The English national team will be based in Rustenburg for the duration of the tournament in South Africa. England have secured one of the newly renovated training facilities, which is on the same premises as their hotel, maximising security. The Bafokeng Sports Campus is a world-class high-altitude sports training destination, which offers a wide range of fields, tracks, medical facilities and luxury accommodation. It is an ideal destination for Fabio Capello’s team to prepare for their efforts to take home the 2010 World Cup trophy. Conveniently located 30 minutes from the international airport, the visiting side will have access to Big 5 game viewing and a genuine safari experience in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, entertainment at the world-renowned Sun City Complex, as well as the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, one of the 2010 stadiums only a few minutes’ drive from the Sports Campus. It is at this venue that England will take on the USA.

Spain - Potchefstroom - NWU Campus
One of the major favourites for this year’s World Cup, Spain will be based in Potchefstroom, at the NWU Campus. For the duration of the tournament, the university will be converted into training facilities and a sports village for the Spanish side. The standard of the facilities is high, and the university is currently in the final phase of setting up accommodation and practice facilities for the Spanish team, as well as facilities for the press (a large delegation) and families. Approximately 80 people, including players, coaches, organisers, physiotherapists, masseurs and dieticians, will occupy the entire sports village. The Spanish side will be well taken care of in an isolated environment compared to many of the other teams, with a very spacious campus at their fingertips.

NORTHERN CAPE
Uruguay – Protea Hotel Kimberly
The South Americans in Group A will be the only side out of the 32 based in the Northern Cape province. The Protea Hotels are known for fine hospitality and comfort, and this is what the Kimberly hotel is likely to provide for the Uruguayans. The four–star hotel situated on the edge of the famous big hole provides the players and staff with 94 elegant rooms, and it offers a restaurant and bar as well as conference facilities seating up to 80 delegates. Isolated from the other 31 teams in a different province, the Uruguayans will be able to work on the task at hand with an entire city cheering them on for choosing Kimberly as their base camp.

KWAZULU NATAL
Paraguay – Woodridge Country Estate
The Paraguay national team has chosen to stay in Natal, at the coast along with four other World Cup teams during the event. The Woodridge Country Estate is a large four-star retreat featuring gourmet African cuisine, access to three top golf courses, a spa, as well as trout fishing and horse riding. This will ensure that the players are entertained and relaxed when at the base camp and surrounding areas. The players will not be training at altitude, like those training in Johannesburg and Pretoria, which may affect their games at altitude in those host cities, but they will experience good weather in the province, as it will have the warmest weather in the country during the months of June and July.

Algeria - Monduzur
The Algerians have chosen to stay at the coast in Kwazulu Natal, where temperatures will be highest compared to the other host city provinces. Monduzur will accommodate Algeria, after it was chosen as their base camp ahead of previous choice, Zimbali Lodge. Complimented by scenic jogging paths and bowling greens, Algeria can choose between a range of sporting options and relaxing diversions during the tournament. These facilities include 4 flood lit tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, action cricket, 2 air-conditioned squash courts, volleyball, mashie golf and boat rides. The Fennecs will also be well fed, as the Lagoon Grill, overlooking the pool and lagoon with its myriad of bird species, serves the freshest local product seafood and a la carte cuisine.

Cameroon – Oyster Box Hotel
The Indomitable Lions will be based at the coast during the World Cup; with the Oyster Box Hotel making them feel at home for the duration of the tournament. The hotel boasts intimate service, superb cuisine, gracious comfort and absolute beachfront at the private hotel situated in Umhlanga, just 15 km north of host city Durban. This means that the Moses Mabhida Stadium is a short drive from the hotel. This grand hotel is set on a vast property on Umhlanga’s prestigious beach front, with tropical landscaped gardens and direct beach access. The hotel boasts a cocktail bar and sports bar, as well as a world-renowned Grill Room Restaurant featuring local seafood, excellent South African wines and other superb delicacies. Greece – Beverly Hills Hotel
The Greek national team has chosen to be based in the low altitude coast, rather than one of the high altitude host cities. They may find that they struggle to acclimatise to the different altitude in Johannesburg or Pretoria, but the relaxed atmosphere at the coast and good weather will be a positive for them. Renowned for its superb personal service, luxury accommodation and fine dining, the Beverly Hills will take care of Greece with gracious hospitality. Set on a rise overlooking the Indian Ocean, it offers fantastic views of miles of unspoilt beaches. The Beverly Hills Hotel at Umhlanga Rocks is a mere 20-minute’s drive from Durban, and is therefore close to the Moses Mabhida Stadium. The signature restaurant, The Sugar Club and Elements Cafe Bar will provide the players with good food and a pleasant atmosphere. The Greek players and staff can enjoy a swim in the hotel's pool or entertain themselves with tennis, deep-sea fishing, bowling, horse riding, gym, golf and squash which are all available in close proximity to the hotel.

Nigeria – Hampshire Hotel
Nigeria will be based on the Kwazulu Natal coast during the tournament, close to host city Durban and the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Located steps away from the famed Dolphin Coast, the Hampshire Hotel will offer the Super Eagles a home away from home, where they will stay in comfort during the competition. A state of the art fitness centre, swimming pools and Jacuzzis will provide the players with a means to stat entertained and relaxed in between training sessions and matches. Nigeria trained in Durban ahead of the African Nations Cup earlier this year and they are comfortable to stay near the coastal host city during the World Cup.

WESTERN CAPE
Japan - Fancourt Hotel & Country Club
The Samurai Warriors of Japan have chosen to be based in the Western Cape province, a haven of relaxation and comfort. Set in the heart of South Africa’s Garden Route, with its three Gary Player-designed golf courses and the only Taylor Made Performance Lab in Africa, Fancourt is a premier business and leisure destination, and will suit the Japanese players’ need to prepare for the tournament. Away from the busy cities and set in tranquil surroundings, the Japanese are likely to settle in well at their base camp.

Denmark - Simola Hotel Country Club
The Danes have chosen to stay at the Simola Hotel Country Club in the Western Cape during the month-long tournament in South Africa. Cape Town Stadium is the closest of the World Cup venues to the resort. The Estate is a luxury complex combining health and wellness services with state-of-the-art exercise and fitness facilities. Walking, running, horse riding and cycling trails will keep the Danish team occupied when not preparing for matches against their group rivals. A five-star hotel, golf course, health spa and a river club for fly fishing in the Knysna Lagoon are just some of the facilities available to the Scandinavians at the Simola Golf & Country Estate, where they will be taken care of by the well trained and hospitable staff.

France – Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa
Situated in the stunning Garden Route, the French national team has chosen to be based at the Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa in Knysna for the duration of the World Cup later this year. The hotel will provide a secluded and tranquil environment for Raymond Domenech’s charges, thanks to the glittering Knysna lagoon and breathtaking mountain and ocean views. Nestled in its own golf estate on an exclusive cliff-top retreat, the service from staff will make sure that the French team is comfortable and content. A health spa, gourmet meals from the restaurant as well as sport and recreation facilities will be on hand for use by the French. Cape Town Stadium is the closest of the World Cup venues to the resort.
