thumbnail Hello,

The controversial Trinbagonian has said that it will be "refreshing" to see a competition without Argentina...

Jack Warner, leader of the FIFA organisation committee of the Under-20 World Cup, believes that several teams could win the competition due to Argentina's absence.

"This is a very important tournament for Egypt as hosts of a big event," Warner told a press conference. "They are certainly ready for the start of the Under-20 World Cup and there is a lot of love for football from the crowd. The good thing about this tournament is that several teams could go all the way now Argentina are not here. It will be refreshing to see other teams playing for the title."

The South Americans picked up their sixth U-20 World Cup title in Canada two-years ago courtesy of a brilliant Sergio Aguero. However, they failed to qualify for Egypt 2009.

There remain a number of genuine class acts hoping to take full advantage of Argentina's absence. Hosts Egypt may not be favourites for the title, but they will do their utmost to perform well.

"I am thankful for all the help we got to be ready in time for the start of the tournament," Hani Abu Reda, leader of the Egyptian organisation committee, said. "I hope that there will be a lot of fans attending the opening ceremony on Thursday. I also hope that Egypt can start with a win against Trinidad & Tobago."
