1985: Lassana Diarra: After largely unsuccessful spells with Chelsea and Arsenal, Diarra joined Portsmouth in search of first team football and after less than a year with Pompey was transferred to Real Madrid in a €20 million deal. At the Bernabeu the France international has established himself as an integral part of the new look multi-miilion dollar team constructed by returning president Florentino Perez in an effort to surpass Barcelona and return Madrid to the summit of Spanish football.
1989: Damian Ismodes: Peruvian international midfielder Ismodes signed for Racing Santander in 2008 from Sporting Cristal but did not enjoy a sccuessful time, playing just once for the Cantabrian outfit before being loaned out to Eibar in the Segunda Division where he also rarely featured as they were relegated. He is now back in Peru on loan at Cristal.
