1976: Santiago Ezquerro: Forward Ezquerro began his career in the Segunda Division with Osasuna and later switched to Atletico Madrid but failed to establish himself. After a spell at Mallorca he joined Athletic Bilbao where he went on to play 222 league games before signing for Barceloan in 2005. At Camp Nou he was used as a back-up for the first team, playing just 24 times in three seasons. He returned to Pamplona but after just nine more games with Osasuna he retired from professional football.
1979: Michael Owen: Began his career at Liverpool where he managed 158 goals in 297 games and won a treble of cup trophies in 2001. His time in Spanish football came with the arrival of a Spaniard, Rafael Benitez, at Anfield. Owen joined Real Madrid but failed to live up to expectations and left after just one season to join Newcastle United. During his time with Madrid he played 43 times, scoring 16 goals. He has scored 40 goals in 89 appearances for England and currently plays for Manchester United.
1989: Didier Zokora: Ivorian midfielder Zokora is in his first season in Spanish football. The combative central midfielder joined Sevilla in a €9 million move from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer and has quickly established himself as a regular in Manolo Jimenez's team. He has won 75 caps for Ivory Coast and one international goal.
1987: Markael Susaeta: Athletic Bilbao midfielder came through the ranks at the club to establish himself as a regular for Los Leones during the 2007/08 season. He has been capped by Spain at Under 21 level.
