1981: David Villa: Prolific striker Villa began his career at Sporting Gijon and after one season there he had two seasons at Real Zaragoza before eventually making the switch to Valencia. Currently he has 216 goals in 428 appearances in all competitions, making him one of the most sought after players in world football. He has won two Copa del Rey crowns, one at the Mestalla and one with Zaragoza but his greatest success was Euro 2008 success with Spain where he also won the Golden Boot. To date Villa has scored 35 goals in 54 internationals.
1988: Keirrison: Brazilian striker Keirrison was signed by Barcelona during the summer from Palmeiras for an initial fee of €14 million but was immediately loaned out to Portuguese side Benfica. So far this season he has played on just four occasions and has so far failed to score. During his time in Brazilian football he scored 89 goals in 158 appearances.
