Spanish Cumpleanos: Christoph Metzelder
Every weekday Goal.com celebrates the birthday of past and present La Liga-related figures. Today includes all those born on November 5...
1980: Christoph Metzelder: German centre-back Metzelder made the move to Spanish football in 2007, joining Real Madrid on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund. His time in Spain has been hampered by injuries and he has only played for Los Blancos 30 times in all competitions. Prior to moving to Spain he won a Bundesliga title with Dortmund in 2002 but injuries dominated his career and the most appearances he made in one season was 37, in that title winning season. Metzelder has won 47 caps for Germany.
