Pot wants Netherlands to control Spain

The coach is aware of the quality of his side's next opponents but believes his men are capable of dominating possession
Netherlands Under-21 coach Cor Pot believes his side can "control" Spain ahead of their top of the table Group B clash.

Having won their matches against Germany and Russia, both nations have six points and are now ready to compete for the group's top position before they move on to the finals of the Euro Under-21 tournament.

And Pot feels while Julen Lopetegui's men are quality opponents, they have been wasting a lot of chances and could have been more effective up front.

"Spain are a very strong side. They have lots of options," he told Uefa.com.

"They haven't scored many goals but they have created lots of chances. They have excellent players but so do we. They have lots of technical players with skills and speed.

"We have other qualities. We can play very well with the ball as we showed against Germany.

"If we can play our own game and keep the ball, we can control the game."

The Jong Oranjes and Spain's youth selection will face each other on Wednesday, June 12, 18.00CET in Petah Tikva.
