Italy U-21s: Mario Balotelli In Doubt To Face Sweden
The Inter starlet has picked up an injury, and may be forced to sit out his nation’s crucial clash.
Italy are one of the heavy favourites to take out this year’s European Under-21 Championship, held in Sweden.Despite their favouritism coming into the tournament, the Azzurrini were held to a goalless draw by Serbia in their opening match, which has their upcoming encounter with the hosts on Friday all the more significant.
In a severe blow to their plans for that clash, the Inter hitman Mario Balotelli could be forced to sit out after picking up an injury in training.
According to Ansa.it, the 18-year-old received a knock to his left foot in the latter stages of the team’s final training session, which has put his presence in doubt for the contest.
The medical staff will visit Balotelli first thing tomorrow morning, and a decision will be made at that point in regards to whether or not he will take his place against the Swedes.
