He started the year in personal turmoil but has rehabilitated his career with a sterling season in the Brazilian Serie A. Flamengo won the championship on Sunday and the Emperor ended the campaign with 18 league strikes, leaving him top scorer alongside Diego Tardelli.
Claudio Marchisio - Juventus & Italy
The Old Lady needs a favourable result against Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week but come into the game on the back of a convincing Derby d'Italia win against Inter. The 2-1 victory, which was given a platform by the Bianconeri's midfield, was given an added sheen by Marchisio's fine strike to seal the points.
Mehdi Rahmati - Sepahan & Iran
For a second week in a row, the shot-stopper saved his team from defeat at home. Rahmati, the Iran international goalkeeper, is the primary reason for Sepahan climbing to the top of the league. Last week, he saved two penalties against Persepolis and Sepahan won 2-1. On Saturday, he showed his ability against Esteghlal and his side kept a clean sheet to win 2-0.
