Iker Casillas - Spain

Euro 2008 champions Spain will take on Azerbaijan in an international friendly on Tuesday in what will be their one and only test before the FIFA Confederations Cup kicks off on June 14.

Without any further competitive preparation, goalkeeper Iker Casillas has assured that La Seleccion will make the most out the encounter against the unfancied 140th-ranked nation currently coached by Berti Vogts.

“We will confront this game seriously and try to obtain the best possible result before competing in the Confederations Cup,” the shot-stopper and captain said, according to AS, during a pre-match press conference.

The Real Madrid No. 1 is also hoping that Spain will be able to serve up a feast for the Azerbaijani football fans to enjoy.

“We are delighted to be here in Azerbaijan to play a game where everyone wants to shine because it is going to be followed closely,” he said.

“I know that over here, there are a lot of Real Madrid admirers and their affection is greatly appreciated. But now, we are here with the Spanish national team and I hope that the fans in Baku will enjoy and value our football.”

The match will kick-off at 19:00 CET on June 9.
