Comunicaciones 1-1 Pachuca: Tuzos' Misfortune Continues

Pachuca took a 1-0 lead after just one minute of play but could not add to it in CCL play.

Pachuca went into Guatemala determined to turn their league fortunes around but left with just one point.

Pachuca and Comunicaciones tied 1-1 in a CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal match on Wednesday.

Pachuca have gone nearly one month without a victory in Mexican league play and their misfortune carried over into league play.

Things could not have started better for Pachuca. In the first minute of the game, Damian Manso hit a high-arching cross from the left side of the box towards the right post and Paul Aguilar tapped the ball across the goal line to give Pachuca an early 1-0 lead.

Despite the early goal, though, Pachuca did not build on their momentum. Los Tuzos reverted to a defensive style of play and tried to protect their slim lead. The tactic worked until the 73rd minute. Fredy Thompson sent a ball over the top of Pachuca's defense and onto Rolando Fonseca's path, and the veteran Costa Rican buried a shot past Miguel Calero to give the hosts a 1-1 draw.
