Report: Morocco Threatens CAS Action Over Togo Result
The Moroccans are extremely unhappy with the Togolese's breach of the rules...
The Moroccan Royal Football Federation are arguing they should be awarded three points for their draw against Togo due to Abdelkader Mamah’s participation despite his suspension.According Le Sahara, Moroccan Royal Football Federation president Ali Fassi Fihri has announced that the North Africans will take their case against Togo to the Council of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This follows FIFA rejection of a complaint regarding the use of Abdelkader Mamah by the Sparrow Hawks in their qualifier versus the Atlas Lions when he was meant to be suspended after acquiring a clutch of yellow cards.
The Moroccans have maintained that their request to be awarded the victory is legitimate and consistent with the football governing body’s rules of the game. Meanwhile, FIFA have contended themselves with fining the Togolese Football Federation and extending Mamah’s suspension.
“Our reservations are in line with regulations and we must be awarded the three point of victory. However, the rejection by FIFA will force us to bring the case to the CAS,” he explained.
Morocco have amassed a mere two points after three matches in World Cup qualifying and are in third place of group A behind Togo and frontrunners Gabon.
