Marouane Chamakh Denies Abandoning Morocco
The Bordeaux forward has spoken out against allegations that he faked an injury in order to skip his country’s recent qualifying clash...
According to the striker, the rumour was generated due to the Moroccan technical staff’s lack of transparency and professionalism.
“They knew I was hurt and I’m upset because they could have extinguished the spark. Plus, it gained such a huge dimension even though the federation knew about the injury since Tuesday. From the administrator to the manager, everyone was aware,” he explained.
“I’m disappointed because they could have supported me or at least told the truth.”
Chamakh drew heavy criticism due to the incident and was also lambasted for not visiting his national side's France-based training camp.
However, the player has revealed that he was instructed not to make a visit even though Mbark Boussoufa, who was also injured, did.
