Teams
Goalkeeper
Glen Moss (New Zealand) – South Africa sneaked through to the semi-finals largely thanks to Moss, who made three decisive saves for New Zealand against Iraq during the 0-0 draw.
Defence
Maicon (Brazil) – Keeps his place in 'Team of the Round' after his all-conquering performance in the 3-0 thumping of Italy. Unstoppable down the right flank.
Oguchi Onyewu (United States) – A rock in defence for the States as they clinched a shock ticket for the semi-finals by thrashing Egypt. The giant stopper was completely dominant.
Raul Albiol (Spain) – A number of excellent interventions in the win over South Africa, particularly in the first half, ensured that Spain are still yet to concede a goal in the 2009 Confederations Cup.
Gaxa (South Africa) – Perhaps deserved more from his side's reverse to Spain. Defended very well and put in a solid wing-back showing with some teasing crosses.
Midfield
Xavi (Spain) – The star man in the Spain midfield as they made it a record 15 wins on the trot. There is no better centre midfielder in the world than Xavi on current form.
Felipe Melo (Brazil) - Dominated the midfield during Brazil's 3-0 win over Italy. Felipe Melo is really looking like one of the best players in the world now in his position.
Michael Bradley (United States) – Caused problems for Egypt all game with his late runs into the box from midfield. After going close to scoring, he did eventually get onto the scoresheet with his side's second.
Attack
David Villa (Spain) – Showed what a champion he is by, just minutes after seeing his penalty saved, reacting to put Spain ahead against South Africa. Regarded by many as the best striker in the world, Villa will deservedly join a giant club team this summer.
Luis Fabiano (Brazil) – Scored the first two goals during Brazil's rout of Italy, and on another night could have had a hat-trick. Led the line well, and was a real thorn in Chiellini's side.
Landon Donovan (United States) - The class act of the USA team during their surprise 3-0 win over Egypt. Donovan oozed class throughout, and was a constant irritant for the The Pharaohs.
Moss

Felipe Melo - Xavi - Bradley
