Joel Santana has refused to explain why his top defender, Nasief Morris was axed from the national squad for the FIFA Confederations Cup.
“I’m not going to go into details why we dropped Morris – it is an internal matter,” Santana said.
The coach would not be coaxed into revealing the underlying reason for his decision, saying only, “We have a code of conduct which every player has to follow.”
It has been suggested that Morris was ‘confrontational’ when he arrived
in camp after a season in La Liga, where he missed just one match throughout the campaign with Recreativo Huelva. Santana would not expand further on this matter, however.
