Merengues star congratulates colleagues...

Portugal and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has congratulated Spain on their World Cup success via his Twitter account.

The 25-year-old captained the Portuguese in a narrow second round defeat to Vicente del Bosque's side, the first of four consecutive 1-0 wins that sent Spain on their way to glory.

Five of Ronaldo's Madrid team-mates were amongst the 23-man squad to lead la Furia Roja to their first ever world crown.

"I congratulate la Roja for winning the world championship. I have many colleagues there and this victory is for the national team and the entire country," he said, as published via Twitter.
