Former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro will hold the World Cup trophy one last time on Sunday before placing it in between the Netherlands and Spain who will battle each other for the coveted crown of world champions.
La Repubblica reports Cannavaro will deliver the trophy pitch-side in Johanneburg's Soccer City stadium for the final.
It represents a stark contrast from four years ago when the former Azzurri held the trophy aloft in glory.
He will now see it head to its prospective new keepers following la Nazionale's shambles in South Africa.
It's still unknown as to who will hand the trophy to the eventual winners, but speculative reports have suggested it could be Nelson Mandela if he turns up.
