World Cup 2010: Germany Legend Franz Beckenbauer Warns Spain Of Bastian Schweinsteiger Threat

The Germany hero hailed Schweinsteiger's performance in the World Cup.
Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer has alerted Spain to be wary of Bastian Schweinsteiger during tonight's World Cup semi-final in Durban.

"I think in all the games Schweinsteiger has been brilliant for Germany," said the World Cup winner. "He has been one of the best players in this World Cup for me and I think he is in line to win the Golden Ball award."

In the absence of captain Michael Ballack, Schweinsteiger has been a lynchpin in central midfield for the Germans, earning high praise for his performances, particularly in the quarter-final against Argentina.

Beckenbauer continued: "He will be important for us against Spain. I'm sorry to Spain, but with players likes Schweinsteiger, I think we are going to the final."

Schweinsteiger has seen his stock rise dramatically since the beginning of the tournament, but will face a new level of challenge as he takes on a Spanish midfield that includes Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, and Xabi Alonso.
