French Football Federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes has resigned from the post in the wake of the national team's crisis hit World Cup 2010 campaign.
Internal strife wrecked the nation's tournament, with the camp exploding after Nicolas Anelka was sent home after verbally abusing head coach Raymond Domenech. The players refused to train the day after the event and were roundly criticised for their actions after they finished bottom of Group A.
In a statement released today, Escalettes announced the end of his five-year stay. It said: "I consider that it is my duty to resign from my role as president of the French Football Federation."
