Germany hammered England 4-1 at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday afternoon to reach the quarterfinals of the World Cup.
A goal apiece from Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski and a brace from Thomas Mueller saw the 2006 World Cup semifinalists comfortably get past the English in the last 16.
Podolski, who netted his side's second goal just after the half hour mark, sounded confident and jubilant after the win. He has been quoted by AP as saying, "In the knockout stages, Germany is always there. We fought and ran a lot, just fantastic today."
