World Cup 2010: Martin Palermo Willing To Bide His Time For Argentina
The 36-year-old World Cup rookie says he is happy to be part of the squad in South Africa, but does not rule out another fairytale finish come July 11...
By Daniel Edwards
The 36-year-old finds himself behind Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez, Gonzalo Higuain, Diego Milito and Sergio Aguero in the Albiceleste pecking order.
But 'El Titan', whose last minute goal against Peru in October propelled them to the World Cup, is not despairing because of his lack of minutes on the pitch.
"The problem is that we are talking about a team in which every player is more of a superstar than the one before, in the best way. I am surrounded by monsters!" the Boca Juniors legend joked with Ole on Tuesday morning.
"Diego will decide when I get on the pitch, and it will be when he considers it beneficial for the team. I value greatly being where I am."
However, Palermo did not rule out a heroic last goal in a crucial game like the final, the kind which he has become famous for over a long career in Argentina and Spain.
"That would be one hell of a film ending no?! Something incredible. Whatever is coming my way, bring it on. Meanwhile I'll enjoy this time like nobody else."
