The Azzurri were red-hot favourites to win the match, but could only savour a draw against the All Whites...Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro refuses to point the finger at any one player for the side's disappointing draw against New Zealand.
The defender says that every player selected for the Azzurri deserves to be there, with questions starting to be raised over the list coach Marcello Lippi took to South Africa.
"We are a united team. There is no point looking to find a culprit for our draw," the stopper stated post-match to TMW. " The goal that we conceded was a result of our slackness.
"They put is in a difficult position in the penalty area, and when the ball was deviated, I found it upon myself. I then deviated it as well. Maybe there was a hint of offside.
"But after this disappointment, they were only able to enter our defence twice. The team works well, and we know what we need to do.
"Everyone that is here at the World Cup has deserved to wear the Azzurri shirt. It also happens that a team qualifies on five points, some with four, and others with three.
"Once the goal was conceded, there was a side that wanted to play and win, therefore, I will not single out anyone for this result," Cannavaro concluded.
