World Cup 2010: Argentina Coach Diego Maradona Pleased With Win Against Nigeria
Maradona was quite satisfied with Argentina's win...
By Stefan Coerts
Argentina dominated their World Cup opener against Nigeria and eventually recorded a solid 1-0 win after a goal from defender Gabriel Heinze. Head coach Diego Maradona was very satisfied with his side's win.
"I don't really care about the missed chances. It's better to reserve some goals for the next matches. I have to congratulate the Nigerian goalie for his superb performance," Maradona was quoted as saying on the press conference.
"The important thing is that we created some good chances and attacked very well. It would have been different if we didn't win the game. We allowed Nigeria too much space on occasions. We have to stay alert all game.
"We have made a very good start to the tournament. Winning the first match gives you the chance to act a bit more relaxed. We still have a lot to improve, but we've taken an important step toward the next round."
Argentina will also meet Greece and South Korea in Group B action.
