World Cup 2010: Argentina Boss Diego Maradona Demands Luxury Toilets In South Africa

Gaffer sticks to his 'high standards'...

Trust Me! Argentina coach Diego Maradona looks assured in front of the British press
Argentina manager Diego Maradona asked the authorities to install two new bidet toilets for him at the team's 2010 World Cup training base in South Africa.

The people in charge were then asked to carry out an emergency remodelling of the legendary forward's bathroom to make the necessary changes to meet his "high standards".

The manager of the High Performance Centre in Pretoria, Colin Stier, maintained that the request from Maradona had culminated in two whole bathrooms being changed.

"[Bidets] are quite common in Argentina but hard to get hold of here," Stier said, according to The Daily Mail.

"In the end we managed to track down a seat which has bidet nozzles, but to make it fit we ended up having to replace the whole bathroom too.

"Of course we were happy to do so. If it makes Diego more comfortable during his stay then it's worth the effort."

However, this was not the only demand made by the Argentina camp, as they have also asked for six playstations while the rooms are to be painted white.

Meanwhile, the Argentinean FA has reportedly made it clear that menus must contain at least 14 different salads for each meal, while dinner must include three desserts at the very least.

The squad are also to have ice cream available on demand throughout the day, and to be offered South African braai about twice a week.

Argentina are not the only team providing a 'challenge' to the organisers, however, as Brazil are believed to have asked for their pool to be heated to precisely 32°C, while two Portuguese chefs will be travelling with the team.

Elsewhere, the Mexicans have apparently requested their own priest, while the Italians are allegedly bringing along their gym equipment and pasta from Rome.

No trip to South Africa is complete without a visit to its most beautiful and sunniest city. Durban offers much more than sandy beaches, safaris, casinos and the World Cup, for information on what to do and see, please click here.
