Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino has announced his provisional squad for this summer's World Cup. The most surprising name in the squad was Borussia Dortmund's Lucas Barrios.
The prolific striker was born and raised in Argentina, but has a Paraguayan mother and thus has dual nationality. Barrios has yet to make his first international appearance.
"There's little doubt that Lucas is a superb attacker. He has been in good form this season and deserves a call-up," Martino was quoted as saying at a press conference.
Barrios joined Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund from Colo Colo last summer and has immediately developed into his side's star attacker. He has so far scored 18 Bundesliga goals.
Other big names in the Paraguay squad include Manchester City's Roque Santa Cruz and Benfica hitman Oscar Cardozo.
