World Cup 2010: Injury Threatens South African Goalkeeper Emile Baron's Tournament Hopes

Baron picks up an injury less than three months before the big event.

Emile Baron - South Africa
Emile Baron could be watching the World Cup from the comfort of his living room after picking up a shoulder injury.

The SuperSport United goalkeeper picked up the knock in training at Granja Comary in Teresopolis and flew back to South Africa yesterday.

Rumour has it that the injury will keep Baron out of the training camp in Germany next month, severely affecting his World Cup chances.

Fortunately for the host nation, the goalkeeping department is one where Bafana are covered well, with first choice Itumeleng Khune and Moeneeb Josephs both in fine form.

Recently another South African goalkeeper, Rowan Fernandez, picked up an injury playing for his German club side, and is also in doubt for the World Cup.
