World Cup 2010: South Korea's Injured Star Yeom Ki-Hoon Not Giving Up On South Africa
The talented attacker is looking to June...
South Korean attacker Yeom Ki-hoon is still hopeful of making it to the 2010 World Cup despite being unable to start the K-League season due to injury.
The injury-prone 26 year-old fractured a bone in his foot during training at last month’s East Asian Championships and has yet to make his debut for Suwon Bluewings.
The injury has also kept him out of Korea’s preparations and the former Ulsan star, who has played 30 times for the Taeguk Warriors, is keen to get back on the pitch to show what he can do.
“I haven’t given up on going to the World Cup. The operation went well and at the moment, I am feeling good,” Yeom told local media.
“My recovery is coming on leaps and bounds,” he added.
Yeom is aiming to be back on the pitch in April and is ready to remind Korean coach Huh Jung-moo what he is capable of.
“My strong points are such things as taking free-kicks, crossing and shooting. If I show that I am at my best, opportunities should come my way."
South Korea will take on Argentina, Greece and Nigeria in South Africa.
