World Cup 2010: Hosts South Africa And Paraguay To Meet In March Friendly
South Africa have fixed up a stern friendly test.
By Peter Pedroncelli
Paraguay will face South Africa in a World Cup warm-up match on March 31 in the national capital Asuncion.
Juan Angel Napout, president of the national federation, announced the match this week in a statement.
South Africa also have several friendlies scheduled in the next few weeks in neighbouring Brazil against club sides, with coach Carlos Alberto Parreira setting up a number of matches to improve his players' fitness and team play.
Paraguay will be a stern test for the host nation, as they have struggled of late and have been desperate to play matches against fellow World Cup sides, as encounters against neighbouring minnows Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Namibia can only do so much for Bafana's preparations before tougher opposition is needed.
Paraguay are appearing in their fourth straight World Cup and play in Group F in South Africa against defending champions Italy, Slovakia and New Zealand.
