World Cup 2010: Iker Casillas: Spain Must Translate Potential Into World Cup Success

La Furia Roja are preparing for a French test...
Spain take on France in a friendly on Wednesday, and Iker Casillas has stressed that La Furia Roja has progressed greatly since Les Blues knocked them out of the World Cup in 2006.

Speaking to Marca, Casillas said, "In Germany, France had a settled team and beat us."

"We had to make a lot of changes, and were a very young team. After that, we had some good results, like beating England, Italy and France.

"We won Euro 2008, and are now first in the FIFA rankings. We know our potential, but we are humble ahead of this new challenge.

"We want the people to be proud of us.

"We want the successes of these last years to be translated into a victory."

Spain beat France 1-0 the last time they played, in a friendly in February 2008.
