'Zizou' could be asked to provide his experience to the Fennecs, who will take part in their first World Cup competition since 1986...
Though the Fennecs are preparing for the African Cup of Nations in Angola, which begins at the weekend, many areas of the media are already looking further ahead. When Zidane was quizzed about the possibility of aiding the Algerians during the 2010 finals, he appeared positive about the idea.
“It may already be done,” he said enigmatically.
‘Zizou’, now an advisor at Real Madrid, will visit Algeria, the nation of his parents, on March 1 for more concrete talks.
It has been suggested by some sources that his present role with los Blancos is to aid his ascent into a more hands on role, and a temporary position with Algeria would certainly provide him with more valuable experience.
The French international legend has largely fond memories of the World Cup, famously scoring twice in a 3-0 victory over Brazil in the 1998 final before leading les Bleus to the 2006 showpiece, in which he was infamously sent-off for a head butt on Marco Materazzi.
