The Lorient player believes that his Fennecs can make it to the second round of South Africa 2010.Algerian international midfielder Yazid Mansouri has told RMC that he is confident that his side have every chance of qualifying for the second round of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa next summer from a group that includes England, USA, and Slovenia.
“It’s a good draw. England are, of course, the biggest team on paper. Everyone knows their players but we maybe have the advantage of seeing them play and knowing how they play due to their media coverage. That can be a mini advantage for us,” he explained.
“As far as the United States and Slovenia are concerned, on paper they’re not stronger than us. We have our chance and it’ll be decided on the field.”
Mansouri continued by saying that the fact that Algeria is not well known by any of their opponents that they may be able to surprise them with their strengths.
“I can’t quantify our chances but we’re going to give it everything. They don’t know us well and will be going into the unknown when they face us. That can be an advantage. We’re outsiders just like two other teams. We know our strengths, we play with heart. If we’re not motivated for World Cup matches then we never will be!” he added.
