Argentina coach Diego Maradona could gatecrash the World Cup draw in South Africa on Friday disguised as a journalist, according to reports in Italy.

Sky Sport Italia claim Maradona, who has not been invited to the event following his recent two month ban, has applied for media accreditation and could make an unexpected entrance. The report claims Maradona has used this tactic before to gain entry to major events.

Around 1500 journalists and media people are expected at the event which takes place on Friday afternoon. It is unknown as to whether Maradona has applied for media accreditation in order to gain entry, but the feeling generated by Italian speculation is that he could turn up. If he does he is likely to be turned away.

Earlier, Danny Joordan, president of the organising committee for the World Cup made it clear Maradona was unwelcome.

"Maradona cannot come to South Africa and take part in the draw. There are clear rules which prohibit this," he said.
