The Derby della Lanterna kicks off on Saturday night. La Repubblica claims the coach could be in the stands watching the action. Genoa have received three requests for accreditation from the FIGC (Italian FA). There is strong speculation that Lippi will be one of those present.
Despite the report, there has not been any confirmation that Lippi will be there. The three tickets could be for his assistants with La Nazionale. Furthermore, if Lippi was in the stands, it would not mean he was there to look at Cassano. Angelo Palombo, Giampaolo Pazzini and Domenico Criscito could also be in his sights after their recent call ups to La Nazionale.
In any case, it will offer Cassano a source of hope. This will be perhaps his last chance to impress the coach close up, if Lippi does indeed watch the game.
