Tunisian Football Federation On The Verge Of Being Dissolved
Only one more member must resign for a new Federal Bureau to be elected.
Following Tunisia’s dismal showing on the final day of
qualifying versus Mozambique, football fans in the North African country are on
the verge of being granted their wish of seeing sweeping changes within their
FA according to infosfoot.net.
While it is now clear that national team coach Humberto Coelho will be sacked shortly and replaced by Esperance Sportive de Tunis manager Faouzi Benzarti, the revelations made in the aftermath of the Carthage Eagles’ exit from World Cup qualifying run much deeper.
The overwhelming majority of the public are convinced that the root causes of the disappointment are members of the Federation who were previously elected mostly on the back of their business acumen and not their football knowledge.
In response, the Tunisian media, influential sporting figures, and private citizens have been exerting a great deal of pressure on these members to resign and their efforts seem to be bearing fruit considering the fact that two officials, Abdelmajid Hergal and Jelal Tekaya, have already stated their intentions of heeding the call when the federal bureau meets on Monday.
The two departures would mean that the Tunisian Football Federation would only be one more resignation away from dissolution since Tahar Sioud and Ridha Ayed already took their leave months earlier.
Meanwhile, there are rumors circulating that Wady El Jary would round out the field as well. If that holds true, a new federal bureau will have to be elected according to FIFA regulations as only seven out a possible 12 members will remain.
