We Are Still Alive - Slovenia Coach Matjaz Kek
Kek has garnered hope from his side's performance in the latter stages of Saturday's match and believes that qualification remains a realistic goal...
Many expected Russia to beat Slovenia without too many problems in their two legged play-off for a spot at the 2010 World Cup, but Matjaz Kek, coach of the minnows, believes everything is still possible after last weekend's 2-1 defeat
The away goal scored by Nejc Pecnik could prove to be a crucial one.
"We are in process of building a team. The play-offs are a big test for the lads," Kek told a pre-match press conference.
"Russia were better, we made too many mistakes. But we are still alive. In the last 15 minutes the players proved they can play at the right level. This period, and the goal, gives us hope.
"Our target is South Africa. To reach it we have to win. Russia are giants, but we are brave. The fans at Stadion Ljudski vrt have supported us during qualification. I know that will be the case this time as well."
