Chile will be disappointed with the margin of victory in a match that they dominated against a Slovakia side who couldn't build on their equaliser.

The visitors dominated the first half and deservedly took the lead after ten minutes. Jorge Valdivia's cross eventually found Gonzalo Jara for the opening goal after good work from Esteban Parades.

But completely against the run of play Slovakia found an equaliser seven minutes later, Mati Fernandez losing the ball out wide and eventually Stanislav Sestak bundled it into the net.

In the second period, though, Paredes found himself on the scoresheet after Fabian Orellana and Arturo Vidal set him up for an easy finish.

An injury to Claudio Maldonado saw things end on a sour note for the Chileans, but the manner of victory would nonetheless please coach Claudio Bielsa.

For home manager Vladimir Weiss it was a disappointing outcome, however, and one that he must work on.
