France Midfielder Lassana Diarra Denies Insulting Republic Of Ireland Players
Lass says the Irish players talked too much in the media...
France midfielder Lassana Diarra has denied insulting Republic of Ireland players after his side captured an important 1-0 away win in the first leg of their World Cup play-off at Croke Park in Dublin and added that the Irish player's had too much to say in the media afterwards.
The 24-year-old Real Madrid midfielder was involved in a heated exchange with Liam Lawrence and Richard Dunne after the final whistle of Saturday's game but said that the whole incident was over quite quickly.
"I do not know what happened, the Irish lost and were not happy. It was a typical end to a game and was over after thirty seconds," he said, according to Spanish publication AS.
"The Irish players talked too much in the newspapers," he added before saying he didn't insult any player.
The second leg of the play-off takes place in Paris on Wednesday with France in pole position to qualify for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
